SUMMARY:CPCS MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAM – MANAGERIAL EXCELLENCE - Application deadline January 15\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:CPCS MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAM – MANAGERIAL EXCELLENCE \nIn 2020 we developed a two course CPCS Management and Leadership Program. Managerial Essentials are taught in MLP I.  MLP II is an advanced program in Managerial Excellence.  We are now accepting applications for MLP II (see end of post).  Although MLP I is generally a prerequisite for MLP II\, senior leaders and seasoned managers may attend MLP II without completing MLP I.  Space in the program is limited.  Applications are to be emailed to hsmith@publiccounsel.net and are due on or before 5 p.m. on January 15\, 2024. \nMLP II Program Goals \nThis program is designed to develop skills to enhance managerial excellence and to help you become a more effective leader. It will enable you to: \n\n Understand your impact on others;\n Adapt your leadership style;\n Improve your influencing skills;\n Communicate effectively;\n Build commitment to a shared vision;\n Foster collaboration and build high performing teams;\n Accelerate decision making;\n Prioritize and deliver results;\n Be your personal best and inspire your team members to be their best;\n Lead change; and\n Shape the desired culture.\n\nProgram Details \nThe program consists of seven classes:  a full day in person kick off followed by 6 zoom sessions.  Attendees are expected to attend all sessions so please review the dates below to confirm your availability prior to applying. \n\nPrework: Prior to the start of the program\, you will be assigned background reading.  You will be asked to identify your own leadership challenges and complete a DiSC assessment.\nAttendance:  Participants will be expected to attend all seven classes.  Applicants should block the following dates:\n\n\nJanuary 29\,  2024   10 a.m.-4 p.m. (THIS DATE IS CANCELLED)\n\n\nFeb 15\, 2024               9 a.m. to 12 p.m. via zoom\n\n\nMar 4\, 2024                9 a.m. to 12 p.m. via zoom\nMar 18\, 2024              9 a.m. to 12 p.m. via zoom\nApr 4\, 2024                 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. via zoom (formerly Apr 8\, 2024)\nApr 25\, 2024               9 a.m. to 12 p.m. via zoom\nMay 9\, 2024                9 a.m. to 12 p.m. via zoom\n\n3.  Homework: There will be self-study between workshops with relevant readings\, videos etc. \nCommitment \nApplicants are making a psychological “contract” to themselves\, their peers\, and senior management.  Learning is hard work and requires full commitment.  People have different learning styles and needs; this program asks you to coach and work with peers\, experiment with new behaviors on the job\, and be open to learning more about yourself.  We understand that this is a meaningful commitment to make\, and we are confident that you will learn and grow significantly by participating in MLP II. \nThank you. \nHolly \nMLP II Application

SUMMARY:Monthly CAFL Race Equity Drop-In
DESCRIPTION:April’s Race Equity Drop-In session will continue the discussion started at our March 20th training\, Using Data in Litigating Race Part I: How to Find\, Request\, and Use Race Data to Advance Your Client’s Position. Join us on April 3rd\, from 1-2PM as we lend more time to review and process what we have learned from lecturers Emma Knight\, Data Coordinator and Paralegal with the Trial Panel Support Unit\, and Cris and Debbie Freitas\, partners at Freitas & Freitas\, LLP\, Lowell. We hope you come with any questions you may still have and feel free to share your experiences with how you may have used data in racial litigation. \n  \nPlease consider these questions we will use to guide the conversation. \n  \n\nWhat questions do you still have about how to find data resources?\nWhat ways have you already used data in litigating racial bias in court?\nWhat legal issues have already been challenged using race data?\nHow would you go about this in the future?\n\n  \nIf you have a question about using data to litigate racial issues in one of your cases\, you can send it to us in advance (anonymously if you prefer) and we can brainstorm together at the drop-in. You can send us a short case description\, along with any other questions in advance to cafltraining@publiccounsel.net. \n  \nIf you are unable to attend the March 20th training\, no worries! Everyone is welcome to attend and join what promises to be a very enriching conversation. Register Here. Approved for 1 CAFL CLE.
