SUMMARY:MLP I
DESCRIPTION:CPCS MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAM – MANAGERIAL ESSENTIALS \nCPCS is committed to training and supporting our managers to promote management success and effective leadership. We have developed a very well received two stage CPCS Management & Leadership Training program:  MLP I – Managerial Essentials\, and MLP II – Managerial Excellence.  MLP I is designed for AICs\, Unit Heads\, and Supervisors.  We encourage all managers and supervisors (attorneys\, social workers/SSAs\, investigators\, AAs\, operations employees\, etc.) to apply. \nApplications are due on or before October 17\, 2024 to hsmith@publiccounsel.net  (Application) \nMLP I Program Goals \nThis program is designed to help you develop the skills for managerial success and effective leadership.  It will enable you to: \n\nincrease self-awareness;\nassess your strengths and build resilience;\nincrease productivity;\nlearn how to delegate effectively;\nbetter manage conflict;\nunderstand how to achieve results through others;\nmanage performance;\ncommunicate effectively\, motivate\, and inspire;\nbuild effective teams;\ndevelop emotional intelligence;\nbecome a better coach\, acquire skills to give better feedback; and\nimprove your facilitation skills\n\n  \nMLP I Organizational Overview  \nThe program will run 7 virtual sessions over four months.  Key components include: \n\nPre-work: Prior to the start of the program\, you will be assigned background reading.  You will be asked to identify your own leadership challenges and complete a DiSC assessment online.\n\n\nParticipants will be expected to attend all sessions of all workshops. For now\, sessions will be virtual.  Applicants should block the following dates:\n\n\nDec 18    (9- 12:30)\nJan    9    (9-12)\nJan  30    (9-12)\nFeb 18     (9-12)\nMar  5     (9-12)\nMar 21     (9-12)\nApr   7     (9-12)\n\nThere will be self-study between workshops with relevant readings\, videos etc.  \nWhat is Expected \nApplicants to the MLP I program are making a psychological “contract” to themselves\, their peers\, and senior management.  Learning is hard work and requires full commitment.  People have different learning styles and needs; this program asks you to coach and work with peers\, experiment with new behaviors on the job\, and be open to learning more about yourself.  We understand that this is a meaningful commitment to make\, and we are confident that you will learn and grow significantly by participating in MLP I.  At the same time\, if you are interested in applying\, but feel that circumstances are not right for you now\, we encourage you to keep the program in mind and apply when the next program is announced. \nParticipant Selections \nSince the program is limited\, we expect that we will have more applications than spots available. Selections will be made to create a diverse group across positions\, divisions\, and units.
