Cultural Humility and the Importance of Maintaining Children’s and Families’ Cultural Connections While in DCF Custody
A youth’s positive self-identity is tied to their psychological wellbeing, but when a child is
removed from their community, their positive racial, cultural, linguistic, and ethnic bonds
may be lost. Join your colleagues at CPCS, DCF, JDAI, FRC, CIP, Judges, and community
members as we learn about the importance of identifying, understanding, preserving and
affirming aspects of a youth’s identity.
This is a 3 part series that will build on the lessons from each session, but attendance at
all three is not required to sign up (though highly recommended).
