Lunch Hour Special Project Brainstorm Sessions: ShotSpotter: Challenging its Reliability
The SJC recently suggested “a Daubert–Lanigan hearing should be allowed if so requested to further inform the court regarding retrospective forensic use of ShotSpotter technology[]” and noted it was unaware of any such hearing yet held in MA. Commonwealth v. Rios, 496 Mass. 11,27 n. 8 (2025). Ben and Tricia will present and discuss how other jurisdictions have addressed this issue and suggest tips for filing such a motion.
