Remote Access – GoToMyPC

Allows you to access your work PC (and thus the network) from another computer.

GoToMyPC

You need to download from iTunes or the Google Play store the GoToMyPC app if you wish to use it on a mobile device. The app is free.

Remote working can be tough, and GoToMyPC can be a pain (we are starting a study to find a better, secure solution). HOWEVER, there is the mistaken belief that everything that staff does HAS to be through GTMPC – this isn’t true.

The purpose of the email is to make you aware of when you must use GTMPC and when you don’t need to. As a general rule, if something is not on our network you don’t need to use GTMPC.

Do not need GTMPC:

Must use GTMPC:

  • Applications or files that are on your work PC (Word, Excel, case files)
  • Appications or files that are on the network drives (Word, Excel, special databases, case files)
  • Internal web site – where I post all IT documentation and blog posts – https://intranet.publiccounsel.net/
  • Pick
