In order to improve our ability to communicate with our clients, family members, witnesses, and others for whom English is not their first language, CPCS has arranged for all staff to have access to language access services, including interpreters and translation of important documents. Details on how these services are mandated by law and how CPCS implements them are described In the Language Access Plan. Below is our Language Access Plan and the resources that can support the language needs of our community:
- CPCS Language Access Plan 2025
- Request to Translate documents
- Language Line Instructions for telephone interpreters
- Instructions to Request Services for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing Community
- Tools for Cross-Language Communication and how to work effectively with an interpreter
- Tools for Working with a Deaf of Hard of Hearing Client and Working with An ASL Interpreter
- List of most common languages served by CPCS
As a reminder, CPCS has contracted with Language Line to provide high quality interpreter services over the phone. While it is ordinarily best to engage a court certified interpreter for planned interviews, Language Line can be very helpful for short phone calls, emergencies, and interpretation in languages with a dearth of certified interpreters.
Each staff members has an individual login number. As with all passwords for CPCS provided services, please do not share your login information with anyone else. To use Language Line, dial 866-874-3972. You will be asked to provide:
- Our CPCS Client Id, which is 566042;
- Your individual CPCS Identification/Login, which is your CPCS Employee Id (e.g. 123456)
Detailed instructions (LLS Materials Reference Guide) and a quick reference guide (Committee for Public Counsel Services – QRG.PDF) are attached. If you have a problem accessing the service, please feel free to contact Tere Ramos, [email protected] or [email protected].
