To respect the integrity of people’s personal devices (mobile phones and tablets) while protecting client confidentiality data, we will be rolling out “containerization” software for accessing CPCS email, calendar and contacts on mobile devices.
This “containerization” solution (MaaS360) addresses concerns expressed by staff regarding CPCS applying security controls on personal phones or tablets that receive CPCS email or calendar appointments. A containerization app limits download of email/calendar to the app itself, and does not allow CPCS to manage anything on the device but the app. Therefore, CPCS manages only this app (and nothing else on the phone). For more information on the containerization software and what it does, go to this intranet page.
There will be a four week “parallel running period” from Monday, October 24th through Friday, November 18th where people will be able to install and use MaaS360 AND the old mechanism simultaneously. We have done this to ensure staff (in case they have problems setting up MaaS360) don’t have an interruption to their mobile work email and calendar and contacts. This parallel running period will enable IT to work with the staff to resolve any problems that may be experienced setting up MaaS360.
On November 18th, the old mechanism of syncing email will be turned off. Only syncing through MaaS360 will be permitted after that point. Webmail access through the browser (not app) will still be available for those who choose.
