On October 24, 2018, the Roxbury Defenders Unit of the CPCS Public Defender Division received the Giving Voice to the Voiceless Award from the Elizabeth Stone House at their Annual You Matter! celebration. The Award is presented each year to an individual or group that has made a significant impact in the community. The Defenders were honored for the decades long commitment and service to the people of the Roxbury Community.
AIC Yolanda Acevedo received the Award on behalf of the Roxbury Defenders. Joining Yolanda at the podium to receive the Award were current Roxbury Defenders, Rebecca Kratka and Neni Odiaga and former Defender, Randy Gioia.
