Microsoft Excel is a great program for analyzing data and displaying it, but, frankly, for those of used to working with words on a page or using Microsoft Word or Google Docs or the like, it has a very steep learning curve. Some people absolutely ‘get’ Excel and love it, and some people (like myself) find it unintuitive and need extra help.
There are lots of great resources out in the “interwebs” on Excel, but it can frankly be a bit overwhelming to wade through. My first recourse to finding a specific answer on Excel is to “Google” it. This is great if you have a narrow, specific question (e.g., “change the color of a cell based on criteria), but is not as helpful if need broader help (e.g., “creating graphs”).
However, there are some very good Excel resources that provide short tutorial videos (or text based instructions) broken down into a logical structure that leads a person from basic to advanced functionality.
