How do I record a PowerPoint presentation using Zoom?

Review “Studio” set up

  • Camera at eye level
  • Lights on face
  • Appropriate background
  • Quiet

PowerPoint

  1. Open the PowerPoint you will use
  2. Put PowerPoint in Widescreen Slide Size
    • In “Design” Ribbon click “Slide Size”
    • Review slides to see if this necessitates any adjustments

I. Host a Zoom Meeting

Either:

  • Use your personal meeting room, or,
  • Create a scheduled meeting.
    • This would allow you to have multiple speakers

II. Share Your Presentation

  1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint if you have not done so already.
  2. Click the Share button in Zoom.
  3. In the sharing window that opens click Microsoft PowerPoint to select it.
  4. If your presentation includes narration, sound, or video:
    1. Check the Share computer sound box.
  5. Click the Share button.
  6. In PowerPoint:
    1. Switch to Slide Show mode.
    2. Give your presentation.
  7. When done, click Zoom’s Stop Share button.

III. Before Hitting Record

  1. Look at your camera feed and check lighting, angle of camera, and background
  2. Put any notes you are referring to either behind the camera or to your left
    • Placing on your left gives the illusion you are look at the slide with the viewers.
  3. Adjust the size of the camera feed
    • Make the window with your face larger so it will record larger in the final version

IV. Record Your Meeting

  1. Click the Record button.
  2. Choose Record on this Computer
  3. (optional) If you want to stop recording temporarily, click the Pause Recording button.
  4. When you have finished your meeting, or at least the portion you wish to record, click the Stop Recording button.

V. Get Your Recording

  1. When you end the meeting, you will get a pop up of a folder with your video.  It may contain multiple video files is you clicked stop when recording and then recorded additional segments.
  2. Use that file to edit by trimming in PowerPoint or another editing software
  3. Upload into LMS
